All stalls have connecting paddocks and horses get on a daily arena turnout schedule, or share pasture time in nearby Green Gulch, if compatible with the herds we develop. While WE DO NOT offer public trail rides or riding lessons, we do host a variety of Equine and Nature Guided Growth and Learning experiences, focusing on under resourced communities. We are committed to the preservation and upkeep of this historic dairy, sustainable horse keeping, and to promoting safe and responsible trail sharing. We are taking application for future vacancies. If you are an avid trail rider and are interested in joining our community, please contact Stable and Program Manager: Maureen Pinto, 415-381-6263, or email for an application: oceanriders@prodigy.net.

Novato Horsemen has been a part of the Marin County community since 1942 and was incorporated in 1945. It co-sponsored Novato's original "Western Weekend Parade & Rodeo" until 1978, which was the largest attended affair in Novato. The club is currently one of the largest horsemen associations in California but unfortunately, it is also one of the last remaining active horse clubs in a county which once hosted many barns and stables. As land values skyrocket, Novato Horsemen members strive to withstand "progress" to keep Novato and Marin County's horse heritage alive for future generations of children and adults. The club, which consists of over 300 senior and junior members from the five surrounding Northern Bay Area counties, currently participates in a variety of cattle events, trail rides, and social affairs, as well as horsemanship education at the Horsemen's own facility. Horse owner or not, most activities are open to all within the community. Membership dues are kept low so anyone can participate. Members also donate their time to all activities, as well as maintaining the clubhouse facilities, arenas and grounds.

POINT REYES STATION

MORGAN HORSE RANCH
https://www.svmhc.com/pt-reyes-morgan-horse-ranch
Contact: Doug Hee (415) 464-5145

Morgans served many roles in 19th-century American history, including being the official horse of the National Park Service rangers. Rangers at Point Reyes care for roughly 3-10 horses at time and have used them to patrol the park, work on trails, and ride in parades. On the hillside just above the Bear Valley Visitor Center you will find the historic working ranch with self-guided exhibits, corrals and a historic barn. Allow 20 minutes for this 0.5 mile round-trip walk around the Morgan Horse Ranch. Park at the south end of the Bear Valley Visitor Center parking lot and follow the signs from the Bear Valley Trailhead up the paved road to the Ranch. Disabled visitors are welcome to drive up to the Ranch and park in the designated parking area.

Love horses and have time to be a committed volunteer?

The Morgan Horse Ranch offers volunteers an opportunity to experience all aspects of horsemanship. They assist in ranch operations, including the care, handling and riding of horses of all ages, as well as the cleaning and maintenance of tack, equipment, fences and buildings. Volunteers may also greet visitors, answer questions and briefly explain their role as a volunteer. Experienced trainers are especially needed to help with the younger horses. The need for volunteers varies greatly throughout the year.
